About the Role

The YMCA of the Chippewa Valley is seeking a Risk & Compliance Manager to lead and coordinate organization-wide efforts related to safety, risk management, regulatory compliance, and loss prevention.

This is a hands-on role that works closely with branch leaders, Human Resources, Facilities, Operations, and senior leadership. You’ll spend time across our YMCA locations identifying potential risks and helping leaders develop practical solutions.

What You'll Do

  • Serve as the YMCA’s primary resource for day-to-day risk, safety, and compliance matters.

  • Coordinate insurance claims, incident reporting, investigations, documentation, and follow-up.

  • Conduct branch and program safety audits and identify opportunities for improvement.

  • Monitor workplace safety and support compliance with OSHA and other applicable requirements.

  • Support child protection and participant safety, including Praesidium standards and practices.

  • Monitor aquatics safety and compliance in partnership with Aquatics leadership.

  • Prepare YMCA locations for insurance, regulatory, and safety inspections.

  • Document and track corrective actions through completion.

  • Monitor required safety and risk-management training.

  • Identify trends in incidents, claims, audits, and safety concerns and recommend preventive actions.

  • Participate in applicable YMCA of the USA risk-management initiatives and bring best practices back to the organization.

  • Provide regular risk and compliance updates to senior leadership.

Key Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Safety, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 3+ years of experience in risk management, safety, compliance, operations, insurance, or a related field.

  • Knowledge of workplace safety and risk-management principles.

  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with demonstrated follow-through.

  • Ability to conduct audits, document findings, and ensure corrective actions are completed.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with employees and leaders at all levels.

  • Ability to travel between YMCA of the Chippewa Valley locations.

  • Experience with insurance claims, OSHA/workplace safety, aquatics safety, child protection, Praesidium, regulatory audits, risk-management programs, or YMCA operations is a plus.
