Teaches students safety skills for when they are home alone, watching younger siblings, or babysitting. Students will learn safety skills, childcare skills, first aid/rescue skills, and life/business skills from the instructor-led one-day class. There will be a snack break, but it is not provided; please bring your own. Must be 11 years old by date of class.

Safe@Home by Safe Sitter® is a program designed for students in grades 3-5 to prepare them to be safe when they are home alone. Safe@Home is a 90-minute program that teaches students how to practice safe habits, how to prevent unsafe situations, and what to do when faced with dangers such as power failures or weather emergencies. Students are also introduced to the Safe Sitter® First Aid Chart and learn a system to help them assess and respond to injuries and illnesses.

Instructs participants in the knowledge and skills needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies through water rescue skills, surveillance and recognition, CPR/AED, first aid, breathing, and cardiac emergencies, Prerequisites: ability to swim 300 yards (100 front crawl with rhythmic breathing, 100 breaststroke and 100 of front crawl and breaststroke); swim 20 yards using front crawl or breaststroke, surface dive 9 ft., retrieve a 10-lb object, return to surface, swim 20 yards on back with both hands on the brick to the start point and exit the water within 1 min., 40 secs., and treading water for 2 minutes without using arms. A review class is also available for those who already hold there certification but need it renewed.

Train instructor candidates to teach courses and presentations in the Swimming and Water Safety program by developing their understanding of how to use the course materials, how to conduct training sessions and how to evaluate participants’ progress. Prerequisites: Demonstrate the ability to perform the following swimming skills:

Front crawl—25 yards
Back crawl—25 yards Breaststroke—25 yards
Elementary backstroke—25 yards
Sidestroke—25 yards
Butterfly—15 yards
Maintain position on back for 1 minute in deep water (floating or sculling)
Tread water for 1 minute

- 7:30 AM-8:15 PM
Saturday
- 6:00 AM-5:15 PM
Sunday
- 11:00 AM-6:15 PM

Please respect capacity limits in each area:

Hot Tub: 7 people
Sauna: 5 people
Steam Room: 5 people

The Eau Claire Downtown YMCA Spa area includes a hot tub, steam room, and sauna.

You can access this area through our locker rooms. Go through the pool area and enter the spa door near the shallow end of the large pool.
ADULTS ONLY - Must be 18 to enter.
Swimwear or appropriate clothing must be worn at all times.
Bring your own towel.
Showering is required before entering the hot tub.
There is NO lifeguard on duty. Use hot tub at own risk.
No food or glass is allowed in the SPA area.
Staff may walk through based on their duties.
Only available during open pool hours – if the pool closes, the spa closes – download our YMCA app to make sure you’re notified of any closures

EAU CLAIRE SOUTH YMCA SPA HOURS:

Monday-Friday
- 5:00 AM-8:15 PM
Saturday-Sunday
- 7:00 AM-6:15 PM

Our spa area is located in our pool area.
ADULTS ONLY - Must be 16 to use.
Swimwear or appropriate clothing must be worn at all times.

There is NO lifeguard on duty. Use hot tub at own risk.
Please limit your sauna sessions to a maximum of 15 minutes.
No food or glass is allowed in the SPA area.
