Shift Availability:

June 8 to August 26, 2026. 35-40 hours per week
Start as soon as May 1!

About the Role

Day Camp counselors work with kids ages 5-14 during the summer months. Counselors will positively model and reinforce Y core values of honesty, caring, respect and responsibility; lead activities and ensure safety of children. This is a full-time/part-time seasonal position, generally taking place between 6:30 AM-6:00 PM at our Eau Claire Downtown, Sports Center & Chippewa Falls locations. The YMCA of the Chippewa Valley is an equal opportunity employer.

Key Qualifications

  • Show up ready, on time, and ready to participate, lead and bring the energy.

  • Supervise and engage campers throughout the entire camp day, ensuring safety, positive behavior, and emotional support.

  • Lead group activities such as games, crafts, sports, and themed programs, adapting plans to camper needs and energy levels.

  • Promote YMCA values by modeling responsibility, honesty and caring in all interactions.

  • Build supportive relationships by communicating effectively with parents, leadership and fellow staff about camper needs, incidents, and daily highlights.

  • Demonstrate strong listening, cooperation, problem-solving, and self-control.

  • Create a fun, safe and inclusive environment for all campers.
