    This class invites children aged 7+ who are new to gymnastics to join us for an introduction to the sport. Instructors will guide participants to improve strength and flexibility and lay a foundation of basic gymnastics skills and important body positions. Skills include: forward/backward rolls, cartwheels, bridges & handstands on floor; kick pullovers, swinging & casting on bars; balance skills, jumps & dismounts on beam; running, hurdles, and jumping up on vault. I'm super excited to see all of you for the first class. For your specific lesson day and time, please refer back to your confirmation receipt email that was sent to you immediately after registering for lessons. Here are a few notes for the first day of programming: The YMCA Gymnastics program is located at the YMCA Sports Center 3456 Craig Rd, Eau Claire. Please make sure your child is either in a leotard or athletic clothing without snaps, buttons, or zippers. Midriff is covered. All participants should be barefoot for class; grown-ups may wear socks. Long hair should be pulled back and secured. An adult is expected to participate in the Parent & Tot classes and is welcome to help with tumble tot classes as well. Instructors may request assistance from adults as needed for the Tumble Tot and Big Shot classes. Adults are welcome to view classes from the bleachers. Please have your child bring a water bottle.     Child Care & SACC Swim Lessons The Chippewa Falls YMCA offers convenient swim lesson opportunities for children enrolled in both our Early Learning Community and School-Age Child Care programs. A major benefit for families is that children attend swim lessons during their regular time in YMCA care—teachers and instructors safely escort them to and from the pool. These lessons provide a fun, supportive way for children to build water safety and swimming skills without any extra transportation for families. Swim Lessons are offered year-round in session-based formats for both Members and Non-Members. Please refer to the chart below to view current and upcoming sessions, along with their registration opening dates. Prerequisites: Must be enrolled in the YMCA Early Learning Community or School-Age Child Care program at the Chippewa Falls YMCA. Anyone aged 11 or younger must enter and be accompanied with an adult until you get to your class. 12 and over can enter the building on their own. Everyone must check in at the front desk. If you are a Y member, simply scan your card and head to the Party Room. If you are a non- member, please check in at the front desk each time before heading to class. Please check in at the Entrance D located at the north end of the building by the Masonic Temple. Your swimmer will need to have their photo taken for their YMCA account before the first day of swim lessons for security purposes and in the case of a substitute swim instructor. Please stop by the Member Service Desk to have their photo taken today. Parents are allowed on deck the first and last day of classes only. You may observe the lesson from the Lobby Area above the pool area. An adult is required in the water for Parent/Child classes. The lessons are 40-minutes in length. Swim Instructors use a variety of instructional aides to assist participants in the learning process. We have a Universal Locker Room available for families. Showers are community, please shower with your swimsuit on. Please be timely when using changing rooms to allow others to use them. Lock your items in lockers.     This class is the first of the progressive classes aimed at boys that are new to the sport of gymnastics. This class will help your child learn the basics of gymnastics and lay down a foundation upon which to build, including a variety of stretching and strength building activities. Skills emphasized include handstands and cartwheels with assistance, a variety of rolls and jumps on floor, assisted pullovers and swinging on bars, and proper vaulting basics.     Gymnasts will refine and solidify their Prep 3/Pro skills while progressively building toward more advanced skills. Emphasis is placed on proper form, strength development, and skill consistency to support a successful transition into higher-level competitive gymnastics. This class meets twice per week for an hour and a half each practice. The skill progression aligns with the USAG Compulsory Level 3 curriculum while incorporating foundational elements of Level 4, preparing athletes for potential placement on the competitive team by the end of the summer season.     Mini Swim Lesson Sessions: Ages 3-5 & 6-11 Mini Swim Lesson Sessions are short, focused programs that meet three times per week for one week, making them a great option for building skills quickly or fitting lessons into a busy schedule. We offer both Preschool Mini Sessions for ages 3–5 and Learn to Swim Mini Sessions for ages 6–13, with instruction tailored to each age group’s abilities and goals—from water comfort and basic safety skills to stroke development and endurance. Please check in at the Entrance D located at the north end of the building by the Masonic Temple.
