Youth Basketball

Youth & High School Basketball 

The YMCA of the Chippewa Valley offers basketball programs for all ages! Sign your child up to participate in instruction programs, leagues or tournaments. At the YMCA everyone plays, everyone wins.

Sport Tykes Basketball | YMCA Sports Center | 4-5 Year Olds

Children will work on hand/eye coordination while learning basic ball handling skills. Teamwork and following directions will be stressed. Gym shoes are required. Parent participation is encouraged but it is not required.

Super Hoopers Basketball | Ages 6-11 | YMCA Sports Center | REGISTER HERE

A class designed to introduce youth to the game of basketball. Participants will learn the fundamentals and basic skills of the games as well as basketball terminology and rules. All participants should come dressed for high activity.

Youth Basketball Ages 6-11 | Eau Claire Downtown YMCA | 6-8 & 9-11 Years

Looking for some fun this summer? If so, then sign up for our Summer Sports! There’s something for everyone! We are offering Basketball Clinics for area youth who are interested in trying a new sport or just want to spend time playing a sport they love. Clinics are designed to teach participants the fundamentals of each sport. There will be an emphasis on individual skill development and teamwork.

Winter Youth Basketball League | Grades 1- 6 | Eau Claire Downtown YMCA | REGISTER HERE

12-week league starting the week of December 1. Each team will be allotted one practice time per week for the duration of the season. Teams will play an 8-game schedule starting the weekend of January 3. Includes a team jersey!

Crazy about basketball? So are we! Our 1-4 Grade Basketball League is BACK and better than ever! It's not about what the scoreboard says at the end of the game, because here at the YMCA, everybody plays, everybody wins! Participants sign up individually and are placed on teams according to where they go to school.

  • Games: 1st - 3rd grade games on Saturdays & 4th grade games on Sundays.

Grades 5 & 6 | REGISTER

Back and better than ever! Join us for our fun and exciting Grades 5/6 Basketball League! The league is for players in 5th and 6th grades. All players register through the YMCA and will be drafted onto a team according to guidelines established by the Sports Director. All participants will play in all games.

Volunteer Coaches Needed

Little & Big Dribblers | Grades K-4 | Chippewa Falls YMCA | REGISTER HERE

Come and be taught basketball skills by Head Coach Sally Williams, and the McDonell girls and boys basketball players.

Sessions will focus on introducing basic fundamentals of basketball and having fun. All participants will receive a YMCA Little Dribblers T-shirt. For children in grades K-1.

The Big Dribblers (2nd-4th grade) will focus on introducing individuals to playing organized basketball. Participants will learn the fundamentals of basketball, including competing in games. Big Dribblers also offers an opportunity for ALL participants to play in each game.

3v3 Basketball League 

Join the 5/6th Grade 3v3 Basketball League at the YMCA! The 7-week session will consist of two games each day and playoffs the final week. Register as a team or as an individual (free agent). We aim to provide teams with a positive experience, certified officials, and a place to develop players skills.

Middle School Basketball League | Eau Claire Downtown YMCA | Grades 7 & 8

An opportunity for area youth to build on their skills and play summer basketball. The Y aims to provide teams with a positive experience, using certified officials, knowledgeable staff, and promoting the four core values of the YMCA. We hope that your team will join us this summer!

Basketball Camps | Eau Claire Downtown YMCA | Grades 5-8

The Y will be offering 4-day, same week basketball camps for your young basketball player to get better at the game they love to play!

 

This is an opportunity for youth who have basketball league experience (at least 1 year of basketball league experience) and are looking to take their game to the next level summer. These clinics will help improve fundamentals and basketball IQ/ awareness through game-like drills and intense skill work (individually and small group). They will improve their ball handling, passing, finishing and shooting.

High School Basketball League | Eau Claire Downtown YMCA 

Summer Leagues are a part of the YMCA of the Chippewa Valley’s basketball tradition. Our high school summer basketball leagues are structured to accommodate busy schedules and provide quality competition. We will be offering a league for both JV & Varsity teams.

Basketball Training 1-Day Clinics | Eau Claire Downtown YMCA | Boys & Girls | 4th - College

These 1-day clinics will consist of game situational training and individual skill training: shooting, ball handling, decision making and finishing. Clinics are conducted by high-level playing experience coaches, Dave Hazuga and Malek Lemke. These clinics are designed for those with basketball league experience (Intermediate-Advanced Level for their age). Attend 1 day or come to multiple clinics.

6th through 12th grade. Players will be challenged based on their skill levels within their age group.

Youth Tennis
  • Red Ball 1 | 1 lesson per week - For children ages 4-5 or the proper skill level. A fun, engaging program to teach the fundamentals of tennis including hand-eye coordination, back and forehand strokes, simple games where points are scored, cooperative activities, basic rules, care of equipment, and sportsmanship.

  • Red Ball 2 | 1 lesson per week - For children ages 6-8 or the proper skill level. Children will continue to improve on the form taught in Red Ball 1. Players will also begin to learn basic rules of the game, to keep score, make shot decisions, and basic tenets of doubles.

  • Orange Ball | 1 lesson per week - For children 12 and under or the proper skill level. Children will continue to develop what they learned in Red Ball 2 while learning to: play and apply rules of individual or doubles play, practice, encourage and support others, and continue their development of being a good sport.

  • Green Ball | 1 lesson per week -  or tennis players that have been through the Red/Orange ball programs and are ready to transition to the 78-foot court.

  • Ace III | 2 lessons per week - Competitive Junior High to Junior Varsity level players. This class is designed to be fun and interactive, all while meeting the current needs of the player. We’ll teach core concepts such as correct techniques in ground strokes, volleys, serves, overheads, and specialty shots such as drop shots and lobs. Tennis strategy and point construction is introduced as well as sportsmanship and integrity on the court. Online registration is NOT AVAILABLE. Players must have instructor consent before registration.

  • Ace II | 2 lessons per week - Junior Varsity level players. This class focuses on the fundamentals of match play, having fun, and making friends. Students will learn the importance of each point and be given strategies to develop their natural skills in both singles and doubles match play. Online registration is NOT AVAILABLE. Players must have instructor consent before registration.

  • Ace I / High Performance | 2 lessons per week - Varsity players. There will be intensive workouts with singles and doubles strategies and mental toughness for match play scenarios. Online registration is NOT AVAILABLE. Players must have instructor consent before registration.

We offer a variety of progressive youth tennis classes at the John & Fay Menard YMCA Tennis Center.

Every week has a different theme, emphasizing the learning of new athletic and motor skills. Activities are planned according to the letter of focus for that week. Children learn how to take turns, follow directions, and make friends. Parent participation is encouraged but not required.

Karate​

Looking for a new way to build self-esteem, discipline, and determination? Try Goju Kai karate! Each session, you will learn karate and self-defense skills while improving flexibility, balance, and coordination.

Karate classes are open to all adults and youth 8 and older.

This program and enrollment runs continuously.

All participants are required to purchase a class package online or at the Service Desk in order to attend.

You may attend whichever sessions meet your schedule. Both beginner and advanced levels are taught at each class.

 

Students must have the dedication and commitment needed to learn a martial art. We want to make sure that all karate students benefit equally from the instruction.

  • Saturday mornings - 10:15 AM-12:00 PM | Instructors will leave if no participants by 10:30 AM.

Kids of all skills and abilities have the opportunity to play football in a fun, safe, supportive, and climate-controlled environment. Chippewa Falls Youth Flag Football | Chippewa Falls YMCA

Come join the YMCA in conjunction with the NFL for youth flag football. Boys and girls in grades K-5 are welcome. Learn the basic skills of football as well as competing in games. Each player gets to keep their own NFL flag football jersey. Games may also be played on Thursdays if numbers necessitate. Everyone plays and everyone wins!

Our YMCA coaches will work on all phases of the game and improve your skills and confidence on the court. Skill sessions are designed for boys and girls grades 1-5.

Fusion Volleyball Club | Grades 6-8 | Eau Claire Downtown YMCA | REGISTER HERE

The Eau Claire YMCA Fusion Volleyball club will participate in the Wisconsin Independent Volleyball League (WIVL). The club will provide 3 teams at each grade level based on which high school the player will enroll for 9th grade. Open to 6th-8th grade girls who will be enrolled at North, Memorial or Regis High Schools, the club has a "no cut" policy. The program's focus will be on teaching individual skills through drills and game-like situations, introducing the game to girls at an age where they can become interested in the game, develop gradually, and become productive players. Practices will take place 1-2 days a week starting March 1. Practice days and times will be set once the season gets closer. Tournaments will be offered on Saturdays starting in March and will be within 2 hours from Eau Claire. Each team will play in 3-4 tournaments. Coaches needed. Training provided.

  • TIME: Games are played between 12:00-8:00 PM

Over a number of years, the YMCA has been offering Summer Volleyball Leagues to students in and around the Eau Claire Area. This league is designed to allow teams from both near and far the opportunity to play a game they enjoy, while improving both their individual and team skills. High School Volleyball League

Once again, the YMCA will be offering JV and Varsity volleyball leagues. The Y aims to provide a positive experience, using qualified officials, knowledgeable staff, and promoting the four core values of the YMCA. Both the JV and Varsity league will be offered on Mondays, so teams from out of town can carpool. We hope that your team will join us this summer!

Fine tune your baseball/softball skills before heading outside for the upcoming season. Former Kimbal, MN head baseball coach and St. John’s University player Tom Reuter will improve your batting, pitching, fielding, and catching by teaching fundamentals and correcting mechanics. Trainings will be held indoors, will move outdoors weather permitting. Skills stations, no batting cages. Sessions are designed for boys & girls ages 7 to 12. (Beginner-intermediate skill level)

Can’t get enough of soccer? The YMCA Sports Center offers Boys and Girls soccer leagues for players of all skills and abilities in the Fall and Winter. All 9 games are played on our highly maintained indoor turf playing surface.

All players must have a Player’s Package or YMCA Membership.

Turkey Bowl Adult/High School & U10-U14

YMCA Sports Center | November 30 & December 1

Join us for the 20th Annual Sports Center 3V3 Thanksgiving Soccer Tournament the weekend after Thanksgiving. Teams may be composed of 3-5 players. Games will consist of two 12-minute halves. All teams are guaranteed a minimum of 3 games. Every player gets a Turkey Bowl shirt. First place receives individual medals!

Private Soccer Lessons | Ages 6-18

YMCA Sports Center 

Soccer is a very demanding sport in many ways. As a soccer player you must have the technical skills, IQ, and athletic ability to be successful. If you are looking for improvement in your technical ability or game IQ/awareness, you can schedule a private lesson with UW-Eau Claire Men's Soccer and Semi-Professional player Sean Redmond.

Each session is 1 hour (60 minutes) long.

 

INDIVIDUAL COST:

  • 1 Sessions = $40

  • 3 Sessions = $120

  • 6 sessions = $220

DUO COST:

  • 1 Sessions = $60

  • 3 Sessions = $220

  • 6 sessions = $420

SMALL GROUP COST:

  • 1 Sessions = $80

Golf Lessons

Golf is easy to complicate. Using out Mevo+ golf simulator paired with an understanding of the modern ball flight laws, we will simplify your golf swing and focus on functionality.

 

In the 30-minute free consultation, we will identify an area to work on:

  • Speed Training

  • Golf Fitness

Barracudas Swim Team

The YMCA of the Chippewa Valley Barracudas Swim Team combines YMCA and USA year-round competitive swimming and diving programs in Eau Claire, Chippewa Falls, and the surrounding area. We promote the long-term development of athletes by offering skill instruction, training focused on improving fitness levels, and appropriate social interaction in a caring, respectful and encouraging environment. More than 200 student-athletes learn and train at multiple locations: Eau Claire YMCA, Chippewa Falls YMCA, Chippewa Falls Middle School, and Eau Claire Memorial High School. The YMCA Swim Team welcomes swimmers ages 5 to 19 and all ability levels!

Gymnastics

The gymnastics program aids in your child's physical, mental and social development. Our objective is to provide children with safe, positive, and fun learning experiences! We aim to build strength, flexibility, endurance, coordination, and self-confidence while having fun with the sport of gymnastics. We provide an opportunity for the children of our community to participate, learn and enjoy the skills of gymnastics in a safe, wholesome, family-friendly environment.
