Wellness Staff (Chippewa Falls)

The YMCA of the Chippewa Valley is looking for individuals to join the Wellness Team at the Chippewa Falls YMCA. Wellness staff have direct contact with members and help ensure they are having the best experience possible at the YMCA.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise the weight room, cardio room and track area 
  • Instruct proper lifting techniques 
  • Responsible for keeping fitness areas in a safe and sanitary condition.
  • Engage and create relationships with YMCA members.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Available Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 5-8 AM
  • Must be 18 Years or Older
  • Knowledgeable and experienced with cardio equipment, machines and free weights. 
  • Outgoing and Friendly
  • CPR/First Aid Certification within the first month of employment. (Taken at the YMCA. Cost covered by YMCA upon            employment.)

School Age Teacher (Eau Claire)

The YMCA School Aged Childcare program is looking for individuals to work with school age children before school, after school, during full day care and also to drive bus! This position is 20 hours per week 5 days a week.

SACC Day Camp Counselor (Chippewa Falls or Eau Claire YMCA)

This is a flexible, part-time to full-time seasonal position. Counselors are responsible for providing a safe and diverse experience for youth that is focused on the YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring. We are looking for enthusiastic, attentive camp counselors to lead, support, and motivate campers as they enjoy all that camp has to offer. Counselors will be supervising and maintaining small groups of children ranging from ages 6 to 12. Being a role model and a teacher of good communications skills, listening skills, cooperation, problem-solving, and self-control is imperative to this position. Because we work in teams, this person must have a mature attitude that allows her/him to communicate effectively, problem solve, and anticipate the needs of children and fellow co-workers.

Lifeguard Instructor and CPR Instructor  (Eau Claire YMCA)

Both Lifeguard Instructors and CPR Instructors are key member of the Aquatics team that are responsible for teaching Lifeguard courses, Lifeguard Review courses, or a variety of First Aid/CPR/AED courses in Lay Person or Professional/Health Care provider, for staff and community members.  Under the direction of the Aquatics Director, it is the Instructor's responsibility to educate, , observe, provide feedback and correction, leadership, supervision, and safety of all course participants.  Also, responsible for the appearance, presentation, and working order of all materials and equipment used for training.  Must have a current Lifeguard and/or CPR certification.  Preferred, but not required certifications in American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor and/or Firs Aid/CPR/AED Instructor.


Water Exercise Instructor (Eau Claire YMCA)

Teaches YMCA water aerobics class Monday and Wednesday from 8:00-9:00 am. Teaches scheduled classes, beginning and ending on time; provides adequate warm-up, exercise, stretching, and cool down. Instructs patrons on effective workout methods; explains proper techniques, demonstrates exercises; identifies different muscle groups, and teaches appropriate methods to strengthen specific muscles. Assists patrons, answers questions, and maintains a positive exercise experience for members and class participants. Keeps management informed of pool activities, facility needs, and significant problems. Ability to cooperate and work well with other staff members. Ensures pool safety and YMCA policies are adhered to. Performs related duties as required.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Certified Instructor (AEA, ACE, AFAA), water specialty/certification preferred.
  • Certification in CPR/AED desired.
  • Necessary knowledge of hydrodynamic principles and water exercise movements.
  • Familiar with human anatomy- muscle groups, body functions during exercise.
  • Knowledge of teaching strategies and the incorporation of music, tempo, cueing technique, and rhythm.
  • Incorporate creative exercises using different equipment.
  • Ability to be professional and motivate class participants.

Lifeguard (Chippewa Falls or Eau Claire YMCA)

The Lifeguard is a key member of the Aquatics team that is responsible for supervising the aquatics area to prevent accidents, assist swimmers, and respond to emergencies. Each member of our Lifeguard team creates a safe, positive and enjoyable atmosphere, promoting member safety and satisfaction in accordance with the YMCA policies and procedures. A Lifeguard builds positive relationships with members and program participants through effective listening and verbal skills. You will oversee multiple activities including open swim, water exercise, swim lessons and lap swimming. Hours are flexible for your schedule. Must be 15 years or older. 


Swim Instructor (Eau Claire YMCA)

Bring your enthusiastic attitude and passion to the Y and be a part of a meaningful team teaching people of all ages the gift of swimming. We will provide on the job training, although experience is preferred, it is not required. Ages 16 and older. Hours are flexible for your schedule. Primary responsibility is providing swimming instruction to people of all ages, excellent customer service in a safe, fun, and positive atmosphere that promotes participant potential, safety and satisfaction. Give your gift of swimming to someone else! Must be 16 years or older. 


Customer Service Team (Eau Claire YMCA)

This team is responsible for working at our Service Desk or Welcome Desk.  Duties include selling memberships, signing people up for programs, scanning cards, answering phones and being the first point of contact for YMCA members and guests.  Staff will ensure that our members and guests have great customer service and their needs are met.

Hours vary but mainly between 8 am – 10 pm Sunday - Saturday. Please apply online.
