FAQ

The YMCA of the Chippewa Valley Swim Team is a competitive program for swimmers ages 5–19 of all ability levels. Our trained coaches focus on developing technique, endurance, and confidence while teaching the four competitive strokes, starts, turns, and finishes. Practices are organized by ability and emphasize skill progression, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

YMCA of the Chippewa Valley Barracudas

The YMCA of the Chippewa Valley Barracudas Swim Team compete in the Central Wisconsin Swim Conference, Wisconsin YMCA meets, and USA Swimming events. With year-round training in Eau Claire, Chippewa Falls, and surrounding areas, more than 200 athletes grow in a supportive, encouraging environment that promotes long-term development and a healthy lifestyle.

NOTICE TO SWIM TEAM FAMILIES: There will be a $10 Away Meet Fee applied this year, per family. This is additional to the meet fee that is required for attending the meet.

Prerequisites:

Ages 5-19 Years Old
Ability to swim 25 yards continuously
Must be a current member of the YMCA of the Chippewa Valley

Beginner Barracudas Swim Clinic

Fall 2026

An introductory group for young swimmers who are new to competitive swimming. The focus is on instruction and developmental drills for the four competitive strokes while helping swimmers build water confidence, new skills, and friendships.

Tuesdays & Thursdays, Sept 8-Oct 1, 2026

Bronze Fall Clinic

Fall 2026

For swimmers who can race and complete at least 50 yards of each stroke, a 100 IM, and at least 200 yards of freestyle continuously. Bronze focuses on improving stroke technique and endurance while introducing race strategy and competitive training habits.

Gold - High School Girls Swim Team

Fall 2026

A senior training group generally for high school swimmers ages 13–18, organized by prior development and training experience. Gold swimmers train at a high level and prepare to perform their best at major meets through increased training volume, intensity, and race-focused preparation.

Junior 1 Fall Clinic

For swimmers who have passed Beginner Barracudas or can complete a full 25 yards of freestyle and backstroke in the large pool. This group teaches technique for all four strokes, along with competitive starts and turns, to build skills, confidence, and consistency.

Note: - CF Silver and EC Silver will swim together at CF Middle School on Tuesdays, and EC Northstar Middle School on Thursdays - CF Gold and Silver will swim at CF YMCA on Wednesdays
