Members of the Chinese-American Friendship & Scholarship Society will perform three different styles of Tai Chi: Yang Style Tai Chi 8 Form, Tai Chi Kung Fu Fan, and Ba Duan Jin (Eight Pieces of Brocade). Audience members will be invited to learn the Ba Duan Jin. Putnam is an author and poet who unapologetically writes about "the hard things in life," much like her debut book Loose Change: Picking up the Pieces (2022). Through her poetry, she exposes the trauma that so many carry on their own in the hopes of rebuilding faith as a collective community. She will read four poems on how it felt to grow up through assimilation into American culture, on trying to hold on to her heritage, on holding the pain of the diaspora of her people and on finding herself. (10:00-10:30 AM, Community Room) Chinese Music – Dr. Jianjun Ji will perform Chinese songs using four traditional Chinese musical instruments: the gourd-flute, harmonica, Er-Hu, and flute. (10:30-11:00 AM and 12:30-1:00 PM, Community Room) Chinese Calligraphy – Dr. Jianjun Ji will use traditional brushes, black ink, and special paper to demonstrate the four schools of Chinese calligraphy. In Chinese culture, a round shape symbolizes completeness and reunion. Adult Flag Football League - Individual Registration Session Information: Wednesday, November 4-December 16, 2026 Location: YMCA Sports Center Register Now! < Back Adult Flag Football League - Individual Registration Get your team together for Adult Flag Football at the YMCA Sports Center! This 5 versus 5 league is a great option for adults looking for a fun, competitive, and active league experience. Players may register as individuals or as a full team. Each team should have a minimum of 5 players and a maximum of 12 players. The league has a maximum of 10 teams. Games are played on Wednesday nights, with game start times scheduled between 5:30 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. The number of weeks in the season is equal to the minimum number of guaranteed games. YMCA members and nonmembers are welcome to play! Nonmembers registering with a team must purchase a $15 play in fee. Individual signups do not need to purchase a separate play in fee, even if they are nonmembers. All payments are non refundable unless an individual registrant is not placed on a team or there is not enough interest to form an individual signup team. In that case, the individual registrant will be refunded. NO games the week of Thanksgiving. This class mirrors USAG compulsory level 2 gymnastics. Gymnasts will continue to improve strength, flexibility, and body awareness; work on cartwheels & roundoffs, handstand forward-rolls, introduction of handsprings, walkovers, & split leaps & jumps on floor; tip-up handstands, front & back kicks, pivot turns, & side-handstand dismounts on beam; glide swings, chin-up pullovers, & casting into back hip-circle under-swing dismount on bars and improve vault skills. This class meets once a week for an hour and a half, and the skill focus mirrors USAG compulsory level 2 gymnastics. Gymnasts will continue to improve strength, flexibility, and body awareness; work on cartwheels & roundoffs, handstand forward-rolls, introduction of handsprings, walkovers, & split leaps & jumps on floor; tip-up handstands, front & back kicks, pivot turns, & side-handstand dismounts on beam; glide swings, chin-up pullovers, & casting into back hip-circle under-swing dismount on bars; run, arm circle jump up to vault table and handstand flatbacks on pit mat on vault.
